GET WILD IN TASMANIA - TAKE A TRIP ON THE WILD SIDE
… is the theme for our Post Rally Tour.
Monday – Day 1
We will depart Grindelwald at approx 12.30pm and travel across the north of the State to the alpine woodland adjacent to the Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park for our first overnight stay. Our accommodation for the night is the RACT Cradle Mountain Chateau.
Tuesday – Day 2
We continue West and then South travelling through Mining towns of Rosebery and Zeehan, where we will break for lunch and a tour of the West Coast Heritage Centre, then continue to the seaside port of Strahan and our next two nights accommodation at the iconic RACT Strahan Village.
Wednesday – Day 3
Today will be a full day as we are offering a Gordon River cruise and lunch on the Lady Jane Franklin. Mid afternoon we will board the West Coast Wilderness Railway for the journey from the River to the Rainforest, arriving back in Strahan in time for our evening meal.
Thursday – Day 4
Departing Strahan we will travel back through the ‘moon-like’ landscape of Queenstown towards Hobart, enjoying visits to 'The Wall', an excellent example of Huon pine carvings plus other scenic attractions if time permits such as Tarraleah, the Salmon Ponds and New Norfolk, arriving at our final destination the RACV/RACT Hobart Apartment Hotel in the late afternoon. Please note this will be the longest distance and time included in this Itinerary. Once in Hobart we will spend our last 2 nights of the PRT.
Friday – Day 5
In the morning we will embark on the unique MONA ferry for the journey up the Derwent to the Museum of Old & New Art for an experience you will not forget. The afternoon will be at your leisure to either 'hit the shops' with the Hobart City Centre being only a few steps away from your accommodation or visit many other attractions in the area. Suggestions will be included in your Rally Pack.
We will enjoy a Farewell Dinner on the Friday night, hopefully with local JCCT members joining us.
Saturday – Day 6
Before heading off either to the Spirit of Tasmania for the Saturday night crossing or further travelling, we will assemble our marques on the Lawns of Parliament House until approx 1 or 2 pm, to give time to visit the famous Salamanca Market; this will allow 3 hours of strolling through the Market without the worry of safe parking. It is hoped that local JCCT members with their beloved Jaguars will also join us.
As the West Coast of Tasmania is remote from other possible routes to enjoy the wonders of this lovely State, accommodation will be limited so obviously numbers will need to be kept to a manageable total.
